When we make space for honest reflection and deeper self-understanding, change starts to feel attainable. As the wounds or relationships that have been holding us back start to heal, their positive effects ripple outward, touching other areas of life. Small changes lead to more significant transformations, and I have seen this happen time and again in therapy. This is the work I love to do — supporting people to reclaim a greater sense of self, purpose, and possibility.
I work with people who feel overwhelmed by self-doubt, emotional intensity, or anxiety — often those who are tired of feeling stuck and want a way forward. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling like they can’t trust themselves, whether because of a loud inner critic, painful past experiences, or patterns in relationships that have left them feeling unworthy or unseen. Together, we explore these deeply grooved patterns and begin to untangle them so you can move through life with more confidence, self-trust, and ease.

I’ve been drawn to the world of counselling for as long as I can remember. I’ve always been deeply curious about people’s inner worlds: their stories, their pain, their resilience, and the way they make sense of the world we share. Growing up between cultures and constantly navigating questions of identity and belonging shaped my sensitivity to emotional complexity and relational dynamics. I’ve seen how powerful it can be when someone finally feels truly seen, understood, and safe enough to explore parts of themselves they’ve long hidden or judged. Counselling, to me, is not just a profession, it truly is a calling rooted in connection, compassion, and the belief that healing happens in relationship. Being part of someone’s journey toward clarity, self-trust, and emotional safety is what continues to inspire me everyday.

My favourite part of therapy is connecting with my clients (if you’ve ever thought that you’re just another spot on a therapist’s calendar, please know – you are so much more). And within that trusting connection stem the impactful conversations and emotional shifts that make a difference.
When my clients tap into a new insight that leads them to approach stuck situations differently, I’m reminded how profound the payoffs in therapy are.
Whether we are addressing practical day to day concerns, or uncovering the complex core needs and conflicts that keep us locked into certain patterns, I am convinced that therapy can be a game changer for so many.

I’ve always appreciated the impact of being attended to and understood. Throughout my own life’s ups and downs, I’ve experienced the transformative power of being listened to and taken seriously. These encounters drive my work with clients today.
I help people who feel stuck in cycles of conflict or disconnection build healthier patterns so that they can show up with integrity in their relationships and lives. Many of my clients struggle with self-doubt, anxiety, or feeling misunderstood. Together, we develop the tools and self-awareness they need to move forward with confidence and ease.
I also see many couples and families who struggle to communicate and connect, and I help them get past defensive patterns so that they can build relationships built on more respect, trust and empathy.
I’m dedicated to helping people understand themselves, whether that’s around their cultural identity, sexuality, relationships, or mental health, so they can live in alignment with who they are.

Please note that Cat will be moving to our North Shore location as of July, and will only be accepting new clients for the North Shore and virtual appointments.
Clients have told me that they find me down to earth, warm and attentive. And that they appreciate my clarity, kindness and sense of humour.
I pride myself on being a great listener – to me, this means listening deeply to what you’re telling me in the moment, while also remembering details from what you’ve previously shared, so that we can make connections, see patterns and gain new perspectives in your life.
My counselling approach is an integrated one, which means that I draw from a variety of counselling theories & techniques that I adapt to meet your specific needs and situation. Regardless of the style I always ground my work in curiosity, collaboration and the creation of relational safety.
Generally, I find sessions weave between talk therapy and more somatic (body-based) practices. We’ll use language as a way to help make sense of your thoughts, emotions and experiences. This gives us a framework to develop understanding, create meaning and ultimately make new choices. I also incorporate somatic practices to help you gain awareness of your feelings and body sensations, build emotional regulation and develop skills to better manage stress and other challenging symptoms.

I often hear from my clients that I help them to understand themselves better, and that they leave our sessions finally ‘getting’ their struggles in a different way. Most of my clients comment on how natural it feels to talk to me, and feel safe opening up in the non-judgmental and accepting space I create. Together, we will identify what has held you back from experiencing life and relationships the way you wish you could. We’ll set realistic and meaningful goals for our treatment, and look to remove the internal barriers that keep you stuck.
I tailor each counselling relationship to the unique needs of my clients. Drawing from evidence based modalities, I apply powerful strategies and interventions to help you achieve the results you’re looking for.

Please be advised that Susan’s rate will increase to $185/individual session and $225/couples session as of October 1, 2025.
I completed my Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology at the Adler School of Professional Psychology in 2007. I am experienced in providing psychotherapy to treat highly complex cases, as well as treating high functioning people who have been thrown a curveball in life.
I am highly skilled in attuning to my client’s emotional state and inner life, and in forming deep and healing connections. Therapy may include psychoeducation and skill building, depending on the client’s stated goals and priorities. Where suffering is so great that it prevents functioning, symptom reduction and stabilization can be paramount.
I support my clients in accessing their emotions in an authentic and productive way. Together, we experience moving with the emotion, using it to give direction and meaning to life. I am adept at working with clients to challenge beliefs, patterns, and coping strategies that may no longer be serving them. In their place, new ways of being can be explored and applied. It is through this process that clients are able to attain a more connected life, both to self and other, and establish a more genuine sense of purpose.
